Staying well and safe during your trip
China is generally a very safe country for travelers, with low crime rates and a strong police presence. Still, practice common sense: guard your belongings in crowded areas, keep passport copies, and save emergency numbers — police 110, ambulance 120, fire 119.
For health, drink bottled or filtered water, and be mindful that tap water is not drinkable. Major hospitals in big cities have international departments with English-speaking staff. Travel insurance covering medical treatment in China is strongly recommended.
Pharmacies (药店) are everywhere for minor issues, and hotel staff can usually help arrange a doctor visit. If you have allergies, carry a card in Chinese describing them — it can be life-saving in an emergency.
